Observations:
For this assignment our group decided to not record and write our answers down. My observations that i observed is that even though my partner was comfortable with the topic, there may be some that feel the opposite. I observed that even though we were different ages we could still relate whether it was negative or positive because we both went thru the same experience. I observed that I was mlore comfortable asking the questions because I was writing them down, where as if I chose to record I probably would of been more nervous. Like we discussed in class depending on the environment and how open a person can be honest with you, in this type of setting you can basically ask the person your asking the questions to basically anything. The question I recieved the most response on is how did it make you feel? I also observed that it is very common for people to panic in a situation like this, but sometimes you have to remain calm and keep your composure.
Questions Asked?
1. How old was she?
In third grade, 2001
2. What was she doing?
In catholic school, they didnt tell her anything and she didnt find out until it was time for her to go home. She felt lost because everyone left her out the loop of not making her aware of the situation. No one turned on the tv to inform her either.
3. How did she feel?
She cried because she was scared. At the time a close family member was working in NY so she was worried alot. He wind up being ok. he has a powerful radio( walkie-talkie) leting his family know that he was fine. Her mom made plans to pick up that family member and she stayed in after-care very late. While all this was going on, she was still extremely worried because she had to see for herself that her family member came home safely.
4.How did her family react?
They were all over the place, neverous, and frantic

Short Analysis Assignment
How
does language effect how comfortable a person can carry out a conversation? The way a person use language can make them
feel as following; uncomfortable, awkward, hesitant, argumentative, mad, angry,
and upset. In the short story analysis, Game Literacy, because of Dr.
Chandler’s direct/ bossy comments she is making Brain respond awkwardly. For
example one awkward moment is when he says “yeah, but it’s just games.” This
quotes means that he is disagreeing with Dr. Chandler and saying that games are
not software, but her bossiness insist that they are. Another example when she
becomes bossy is when she says, “Obviously it wasn't real hard for you to
learn, frontpage.” This quote means that is a known fact that it wasn’t hard
for him to learn frontpage. After that he responds hesitantly and says “I think
it’s because I had ah, background exposure” He responds in this fashion because
it seem as though Dr. Chandler is bullying him with her own words.
The
reason why Brian may feel awkward throughout this conversation is because Dr.
Chandler is acting like a teacher. Dr. Chandler says, “So, its interesting
games aren’t really considered software are they? Brain says, “They are.” Dr. Chandler says,
“So you know lots of software” Here in the previous quotes she is portraying a
teacher and student role. Because, of Dr. Chandler’s derogatory direct comments,
she is expecting him to respond as a student would. Being that she comes from a
teacher discourse community she views software as academic software. A
discourse is known as their job title a certain society. You must perform and
take on these job roles like it was your own job. Brain has a different aspect
on games and he feels this way because he is a gamer. As a result of her
discourse, it may come natural to her to react in such a way she is reacting to
Brain. She is trying to get her point across in an aggressive way. So she is
ironically questioning, but cuts him off when he tries to reply and answers the
question herself. This same incident can happen when asking students questions
a teacher knows what type of answer she is looking for. If the student is not
right then they just rephrase the question she the student can answer
correctly. Her demeanor behavior as a teacher seems very bossy.
To some extent he is asking as a good student
because he is not just sitting back into silence. If he wasn’t being a good student
would his results have been the same. He is voicing his opinion on the related
topics that is what makes him a good student. It is good to ask questions
because what you don’t understand another classmate may be on the same page. A student
who is silent and talkative may not be as effective because they may get not
enough attention or overwhelming enough. According to the analysis, he says “I
wasn't being graded - there's no - all right man, let's pass this class you've
got to” By emphasizing this quote he feels that Dr. Chandler is grading his
test and he has to pass with fine colors. Grading someone is what a teacher
would do and it is relevant and common with the teaching discourse. He is
relating it to teaching but he is pointing out a difference. Throughout this
analysis may not have totally agreed but at the end he is coming to a
conclusion and decides to agree with Dr. Chandler. By doing so, he is being a
good student by voicing his opinion. Even though, she agrees that there are
some commonalities between games and software such as “you got used to trial
and error”, he still manages to point out a difference.
What can happen when two people can interpret
language differently? What can happen is that one person can feel more
hostility toward the other person. By analyzing this conversation it seems like
it was not going so well. they are both angry at each other and this disagreement
has turned into an argument In the beginning, the way Dr. Chandler is talking
to Brain seems as though she is belittling him because he is very hesitant in
his responses such as when he says, “I think it’s because I had ah, background
exposure.” By him saying ah it makes it sound like he is unsure of his answer
instead of being confident. He knows he
is the expert at games not her. It may seem like she is belittling him because
her comments are so direct and bossy. I believe that because they were friends;
this conversation language was handled very well. It was very clear that there
was some type of animosity going on between them but as friends they never over
stepped their boundary. In conclusion, the lesson here is to show you that
everyone may not agree to what you have to say, just stand confident by your
answer and if you make a convincing agreement then the audience shall be
convinced and will listen.

Why is the “Game” world taken so serious by some but
not by others?
I think that people
take this so serious because to some it is not just a game. How can people stay
up hours and hours just playing a game system? They can be playing simply
because they enjoy what they are playing. When they are exhausted they still
continue to play until they beat that round or the whole game. The sense of beating
the bad guys give them a sense of defeat. People become really intense like it
not a game. This is all a mental game because those who don’t win may get mad
and throw the remote. To some playing video games come natural and others they
may not have much coordination. I was one of those people who didn’t have much
coordination and my older brother would let me play just so they could beat on
me. I didn’t know what I was doing. While playing how a person cans get some
much aggression and anger. Some may play to let this anger out, and if you dare
to pull the plug out by the socket you would never hear the end of it.
Sometimes you have to look at this gaming system as being sommething someone’s
loves. When you absolutely love something you will show extreme passion that
hobby. This game can get very addicting. So if you think you will be an addictive person do not pick up a remote control.

For our question our group decided to look at what teacher comments can show us about the teacher’s grading style. We think that by looking at the teacher comments, we can get an idea of what that teacher’s personal style is, specifically what their most important considerations are in a student’s paper.
In order to begin answering this question, we would first need to classify the different kinds of comments. After this, we can look at how frequently and with what intensity the different kinds of comments appear. Finally, we can consider what the frequency, intensity, and typology might indicate about the professor’s style and preferences.
An example of different Categories of teacher comments include:
comments referring to Grammar & Mechanics
comments referring to Organization
comments referring to Development
comments referring to Clarity
We could then analyze the comments to see how frequently these different types appear. If a large percentage of comments refer to the paper’s Development, for example, we could draw the conclusion that Development is of primary importance to the teacher.
As far as intensity, I think it is possible to compare different teacher comments for differing levels of passion. Certain comments may be simple suggestions, while others may indicate a higher level of interest from the teacher. For example, a comment like “This is vague” contrasted with a comment like “This section seems incomplete. What else might your reader need to know? Try giving a specific example”. Since the latter is more detailed, we might conclude that the professor who wrote it has a greater level of interest in the student’s ability to be clear and detailed.
